In this episode Mike talks about seven core truths about Jesus being the center.

Jesus is Jewish and you can’t take him out of that context. The legal arguments for his messianic ministry are Jewish, each of the gospels is written with Jewish readers in mind. Every word he spoke was Hebrew. When we try to take his words or the words written about him out of that context we start off on the wrong foot.

A challenging point for me, is the conflict with powers. Not powers of this world, it’s obvious how counter power Jesus message and his followers have been for the last 2000 years. But I have a hard time with spiritual powers.

I also have a hard time with what Mike calls a cruciform1 life. It isn’t that I don’t understand it, it’s just I’m in a season of empty. Feeling like I don’t have much to give. Maybe it’s just me. But to think of my life as giving more than I am just sounds kind of unbearable.

They also continued to talk about deconstruction stories and listener questions. It’s encouraging to hear about people continuing to reach for Jesus despite difficult circumstances.
